Job Overview

Our Client is the market leader for high speed, highbandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (MobileNetworks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Their products help toenable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the majorTier 1 OEMs globally. They are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to jointheir High Speed IO Connector team. The position will be located in Toronto, ONArea.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The engineering manager isresponsible for leading, coordinating, and managing the design, qualificationand launch of new products through the coordinated effort of the global HSIOconnectors engineering and the local test laboratory team. This position offersan opportunity to grow and develop a family of new products in the HSIO connector’sarea. It offers career growth in learning how to manage a team support theirachievements. This position is suitable for an individual who desires to takeon a challenging role and eventually bigger responsibilities.

•    Providetechnical leadership and oversight to the design and development team tosupport objectives for project completion.

•    Alignteam priorities and work assignments to maintain critical project milestonesand customer commitments • Lead the HSIO engineering team to develop newproduct designs, coordinate prototyping efforts and launch them into productionin coordination with design, NPI and operations teams in China.

•    Direct engagement with customers and saleson definition of product roadmaps, new product requirements and committed timelines

•    Support development ofmarketing/engineering proposal concepts.

•    Provide management withmonthly project status reports

•    Provide mentorship toengineering team in support of employee development objectives

•    Resolve engineering anddesign related issues as they may occur

•    Check, approve and processdrawings, BOMs, Item Masters

•    Perform mechanicalsimulations and tolerance analyses as required

•    Ensure designs meet both price, performance,and manufacturability requirements in order to win new business

•    Interface with otherdepartments to assure that Engineering teams are working to a common goal.

•    Occasional business travel.

•    Opportunity to travel to visit customers,attend trade shows, and work with our manufacturing facility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    University degree inmechanical engineering or equivalent.

•    10+ years engineeringexperience • Working experience in 3D CAD systems – SolidWorks

•    Excellent problem-solvingabilities • Good verbal and written English skills.

•    Ability to work underpressure and meet deadlines

•    Excellent Englishcommunication skills

•    Ability to coordinate aglobal team in support of product development

•    Experience engineeringconnector for high-speed signal integrity

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Knowledge of connectors orsmall mechanical/electrical parts

•    5+ years of Project management skills •Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) of small metal parts stamping,injection molding, insert molding, and automated processes

•    Proven tolerance analysisskills • Legally able to travel in N/A, Europe and Asia

•    FEA simulation and modelingskills

•   Working knowledge of industry standard formfactors – SFP, QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP 

•   Working knowledge of standard connectortesting procedures and industry standard practices
